SLOTEX HPL panels for facades and interiors

SLOTEX is a collection of high-pressure laminate panels built around decor. HPL is made by pressing resin-impregnated kraft paper layers with a decorative paper and a protective surface under heat and high pressure, which gives a hard, dense, vandal-resistant board that works equally well on a ventilated facade, in a busy public corridor or as a kitchen worktop. This section brings together the panels themselves, grouped by decor, and everything needed to install and process them.

What makes the range distinctive

The decor library covers four families: stone, wood, solid colours and fantasy designs. Many decors are available with a choice of surface embossing, from fine texture and several wood-pore patterns to a super-matt finish and stone-like structures. For outdoor use the panels incorporate a protective film developed with EVONIK that shields the decor from fading, and for refurbishment the same boards can also be used indoors, which allows an exterior and a lobby to share one visual language. Embossing choice should be stated when requesting a quotation, since it affects the surface and the sample you will approve.

Where SLOTEX is used

Typical facade uses are rainscreen cladding of apartment blocks, offices and schools, balcony and loggia fronts, soffits and shading elements. Indoors the panels clad lobbies, stair cores, corridors, hospitals, shops and commercial kitchens. Light weight compared with stone, fibre cement or porcelain makes the board attractive for refurbishment where the existing structure has limited reserve.

Selecting and detailing

• Decide first whether the panel is for exterior or interior use, and order the matching grade.
• Pick the fixing method together with the architecture: visible rivets give a regular rhythm, while bonding or concealed fixing gives a flush surface.
• Allow for thermal and moisture movement with correct sliding and fixed points. Dark decors heat up more and move more.
• Keep an open, drained ventilation gap behind the cladding, supported by an aluminium subframe with thermal breaks.

Fire safety in Georgia

HPL has an organic resin binder, so it is not regarded as a non-combustible facade finish. In Georgia, buildings taller than 12 m are checked under Chapter 14 of the Building Safety Rules (Resolution No. 41 of 2016, based on the IBC), and wall assemblies with combustible components may need to show compliance with NFPA 285. Cavity barriers, insulation and panel grade are decided together at concept stage, which is far cheaper than redesigning after review comments.
