Solid-colour HPL panels

Plain colours let the building geometry do the talking. SLOTEX solid decors run from white and warm greys to charcoal and black, with a range of saturated hues for accent walls, entrances and signage zones. The colour sits in the decorative layer under a hard protective surface, and cut edges show the dark core of the board.

How they are used

Neutral greys and whites suit offices, universities and healthcare buildings, where a clean, quiet appearance is the aim. Strong reds, blues, greens and yellows are common in nurseries, schools and sports facilities, and on retail units that need brand colours. Black and anthracite panels frame windows and entrances and give contrast against pale plaster. Because there is no pattern, there is no direction to follow and no pattern matching across sheets, which simplifies layout and reduces offcuts.

Surface and finish

Matt and fine-texture finishes disguise fingerprints on interior walls and reduce glare outdoors. Gloss looks sharp, but shows every unevenness of the substrate and every smudge. For large facades, order all sheets of one colour from the same batch, since slight shade differences are more visible on plain surfaces than on patterns.

Design advice

• Combine two or three solid colours in a grid for a graphic, brand-driven elevation.
• Use dark colours with care in strong sun, where heat and expansion increase.
• Plan joints deliberately, because on a plain surface they become a visible design element.
