Titanium nitride (TiN) coating is applied to stainless steel in a vacuum chamber by physical vapour deposition. A very thin ceramic layer bonds to the metal and gives deep, saturated colours such as gold, rose gold, bronze, champagne, black and blue. The colour is not paint: it is part of a hard, wear-resistant surface that keeps its lustre in places where paint or lacquer would scratch.
VENTFASAD 24 LLC supplies decorative metals as part of facade and interior design in Georgia. This category contains coated stainless sheets for premium details.
Why designers choose it
- Authentic metallic depth and mirror or satin brilliance
- Very high resistance to scratching and abrasion compared with painted metals
- Does not tarnish or fade in sun
- Stainless substrate resists corrosion and is non-combustible
- Available with mirror polish, brushed lines, bead-blasted texture or etched patterns
Where it is used
Titanium nitride sheets are premium products, so they are normally used in small, high-visibility areas: lift doors and cabin walls, lobby cladding, column wraps, reception desks, entrances, canopy edges, signage and façade accents on hotels, banks, boutiques and residences. They are also common in luxury interiors, restaurants and casinos.
Surface choice
- Mirror finish: shows brilliance but also every smear and every flatness error
- Brushed or hairline: more practical, hides fingerprints and light scratches
- Bead-blasted: even matt texture without direction
- Etched or patterned: for decorative effects
Colour appears warmer or cooler depending on the finish, and it is vital to approve a physical sample next to the glass, stone and lighting of the project.
Design advice
- Use thin sheets bonded on a flat backing for large areas, and thicker sheets or folded trays for exposed locations.
- Protect the film during fabrication; scratches on a coated mirror surface are difficult to repair.
- Cut, weld and bend only as per supplier guidance, as heat damages colour near the edge.
- Match adjacent trims from the same batch.
- Stainless steel is non-combustible, and when used on a facade above 12 m in Georgia the assembly is reviewed under Chapter 14 of the Building Safety Rules.
Maintenance
Coated stainless is easy to look after: wipe with a soft cloth and mild detergent, and avoid abrasive pads and strong acids. In public places, a brushed or textured finish tolerates daily contact better than a mirror. Replacement panels should be ordered from the same batch, since colour can differ slightly between production runs. For large projects it is sensible to order a small reserve of sheets at the time of the main order, so that later repairs match the original colour exactly. Lead times for coated stainless depend on the finish and are confirmed per project.
