UV printing on facade panels and cassettes

UV printing applies a digital image directly to the panel surface, and the ink is cured instantly by ultraviolet light. It allows a facade to carry photographs, graphics, patterns, brand colours or large murals that would be impossible with standard paint. Cassettes and flat panels of aluminium and composite material are printed before or after forming, depending on geometry.

Planning large images

A mural is split into numbered panels, and the joint lines, cassette sizes and fixing pattern are known before the image is prepared. For that reason, printing is best linked to the facade design: the image can then be fitted to the module so that important details such as faces or lettering do not fall on a joint. Artwork should be supplied at adequate resolution for the final size, and colours are proofed on a sample before production.

Durability

Outdoor inks and protective coatings are formulated to resist UV, but print durability is lower than that of a baked PVDF or PU finish. Choose light-fast colours, avoid pure saturated red and blue on strongly sunlit elevations if long-term colour stability matters, and discuss expected service life and warranty terms with us before ordering.

Design considerations

Substrate should be flat and clean, preferably with a coil-coated base layer.
Panel orientation and numbering must follow the layout.
Keep a record of colour profiles to repeat the print for future replacement.
Fire requirements concern the full assembly: above 12 m in Georgia, Chapter 14 of the Building Safety Rules applies.
