Leonardo Stone tiles recreate the look of hand-laid brick, slate and sandstone masonry, with a rich, layered surface and subtle shade variations between pieces. They are made from high-strength concrete that is coloured through the body and vibro-pressed to a dense structure, so the colour does not rely on a thin surface coat. The tile is designed for ventilated facade systems, where it hangs on a metal subframe with an air gap behind.
VENTFASAD 24 LLC designs ventilated facades in Georgia and supplies the matching tile and subframe, so the cladding, fixings and details form a single system.
Formats and parameters
- Standard formats of 84 x 280 mm and 50 x 360 mm
- Matching corner elements for external angles, so corners look solid and not mitred
- Thickness of about 20 to 30 mm
- Density around 2400 kg/m3, with water absorption in the range typical of high-strength concrete
- Low thermal expansion, which limits movement across temperature changes
- Matt or textured surfaces in greys, slates and warm sandstone tones
The tiles are far lighter than full-depth masonry or natural stone, so load on the structure is lower. Because they are small, they can be fixed on rails with concealed clips, and individual tiles can be replaced.
Where it is used
Tiles suit private houses, townhouses, hotel and restaurant facades, plinths and entrance zones, retaining walls, fences and the base of taller buildings. A masonry look on the lower floors with lighter cladding above is a common composition. In Tbilisi, the pattern reads naturally alongside traditional brick and stone architecture.
Design points
- Joints: open vertical and horizontal joints give a ventilated look, and the cavity must drain and be protected from insects.
- Tile weight and fixing intervals are calculated for wind loads.
- Mixing tiles from several packs gives the most natural shade distribution.
- Cut edges expose the body of the tile, which can be coloured differently from the face; use factory corners.
- Efflorescence control: drainage and ventilation prevent salts from collecting at the base.
- The tile is non-combustible, but in Georgia a facade above 12 m is reviewed as a full assembly under Chapter 14 of the Building Safety Rules (Resolution No. 41 of 2016, based on the IBC).

Compared with brick and real stone
Traditional brick slips need wet trades, mortar and weather-dependent work. A ventilated tile system is installed dry, in any season, and the cavity behind the tiles allows moisture to escape. Natural stone offers unmatched authenticity, but with much greater weight and cost. These tiles provide a convincing masonry impression for the middle ground: houses, restaurants, plinths and mid-rise buildings where the budget and structure matter.
