High-gloss aluminium
High-gloss finishes give saturated colour and a smooth, reflective, almost lacquered look. The surface mirrors the sky, nearby buildings and passing light, which makes the facade look alive. Colour appears deeper than in matt versions: a gloss black looks piano-like, a gloss white looks bright and clean, and strong hues look intense.
Where gloss makes sense
- Entrances, canopies and soffits that frame the main approach
- Showrooms, flagship stores and automotive dealerships
- Lift lobbies, ceilings and interior feature walls
- Small, high-value surfaces where imperfections are easy to control
Gloss is less suited to very large, uninterrupted elevations unless the substrate and subframe are very accurate, because reflected light shows every wave and misalignment.
Technical considerations
- Flatness is critical; use stiffened cassettes, correct thicknesses and an accurately aligned subframe.
- Fingerprints and dust stand out, so plan cleaning access and consider gloss only where it can be maintained.
- Scratches and abrasion are more visible than on matt or textured coatings.
- Keep the protective film on until the end and avoid dragging parts.
- Sun reflections can cause glare; check against neighbouring buildings and traffic.
Pairing
Gloss works well beside matt surfaces of the same colour, which gives a depth contrast without changing the palette. Gloss white with glass looks clean and clinical, and gloss dark tones with brass or bronze trims look formal.
Aluminium does not burn, but the wall build-up above 12 m is reviewed under Chapter 14 of the Building Safety Rules in Georgia, including insulation and cavity barriers.
