Anodising is an electrochemical process that thickens the natural oxide layer on aluminium and gives a hard, integral metallic finish. The metal remains visible through the surface, producing a deep, satin lustre that paint cannot copy exactly. Anodised-look finishes in this category reproduce that character in champagne, silver, bronze, graphite and similar tones.
Why it is chosen
- Authentic metallic appearance with fine brushing or satin texture
- No peeling, since the oxide forms from the metal itself
- Resistant to UV, so colours do not fade like organic paints
- Premium impression for banks, hotels, embassies and cultural buildings
Practical points
True anodised surfaces are processed after forming or on the finished sheet, and tone can vary between batches and alloys. To limit this, order the whole elevation from one lot and keep the sheet orientation consistent. Edges and cut lines are visible, so cut parts are best fabricated and anodised in the right sequence, or the project can use an anodised-effect coil coating that allows folding after finishing. Please confirm which variant a specific product is, because bending and repair rules differ.
Pairing
Anodised tones go well with glass, dark stone, timber and bronze details. Champagne and silver blend with the sky and surrounding light, while darker tones give a refined, quiet backdrop.
Design advice
- Handle with gloves in fabrication to avoid marks on the satin surface.
- Do not mix anodised panels from different suppliers on one elevation.
- Plan movement joints for aluminium in sun.
